Diane, I share that story every chance I get. Have never been lucky enough to have it happen again. I am decended from William Bingham Meade, hero of the battle of Cowpens in which he was wounded. He settled in Logan circa 1800. Harry -----Original Message----- From: wboatr [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: May 24, 2000 7:50 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [WVMINGO] Starr's in the Creek ! Harry, thanks for the story, that was cute. I descend from James Starr, 1798, Logan, WVA. Diane
My mother says there is a Starr/Hatfield Cemetary near Pigeon Creek. If you would like I can ask my cousin Brother Jimmy Maynard if he knows the exact location.
Don't know of the cemetary but do remember my mother chasing Blaze Starr and one of her sisters up the road on 12 Pole Creek throwing rocks at them. I was about 5 or 6 years old so that should put the time around 1952. Apparently the Starr girls were skinny dipping in 12 Pole and I was sitting on the bank watching. Mom didn't like that too much. -----Original Message----- From: Starr [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: May 24, 2000 3:53 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [WVMINGO] does any one know of a Starr family cemetary in Belo, WV? Hello, I have a question. Does any one know of the Starr family cemetary, in Belo, West Virginia. I am planning a trip in July to go to WV and have heard that our family has it's own cemetary, but that's about all I know. I would appreciate any help that any could offer no matter how small or big. This is very important to me, I feel like I don't know who I am and I want so bad to find my ancestor's. Thank you so much for you time. Sincerely, Debra Starr of Indiana
Brenda, First, let me say that I think you are providing a very valuable service. Good Job. My name is Harry Edward Meade and I am a newcomer to this geneology deal. My parents were Wendell Edward Meade and Elizabeth Marcum. Grand parents were General Wayne Meade and Virginia Burgess. With the exception of Mama, who was from Pike Co., Ky, they were all born and lived most of their lives up Old Field Branch, near Mayor, in Mingo. Papa was Justice of the Peace in Mingo for several years and also Deputy State Tax Commissioner for a while. Apparently there was a bad experience with this and few in the family will talk about it. I was born in Marshall County, WV but am told I was conceived in Mingo. I am related to Amanda Meade Brewer. I think she was my Great Aunt. I met her in the 70s at Kermit. She was very old then and has since passed on. It was my understanding that she had done an extensive geneology of the Meade and Brewer families. If anyone has any knowledge of this please forward any info you have to me at either this e-mail address or to [email protected] As you can probably tell by the address I currently live in Adana, Turkey. Talk about roots. Did you know that when the Apostle Paul returned to Tarsus it was already 2000 years old? Deb: I have a few Starrs' in my wife's tree. They lived around naugatuck, Wv. There was Sam Starr, Lydia, two Rebeccas' and a Lear Starr. I believe that Sam Starr is buried in a cemetaty up Den Branch, near Naugatuck, Wv. I also have two obits for Martha Evans Starr, who was Joe Starr's wife. Barb, I have Samuel Brewer married a Rhoda Spaulding and I know they had one child named Periba, but the Samuel Brewer that married Rhoda Kirk was the son of Issac Brewer and Elizabeth Meade. I have no parents for either one of these Rhoda's as of yet. k -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Sunday, May 21, 2000 11:25 AM Subject: [WVMINGO] Rhoda Kirk & Samuel Brewer >Hi, >I'm looking for information on Rhoda Kirk, b. about 1826. Em, No sorry I don't. One of my Bryant lines is (John?) Bert Bryant that appears to have married 2 Columbia Newsomes. One b-1880 and the other b-1911 and the other Bryant line is Corbin's daughter Cordelia married Stephn Hensley and their daughter Luncida married Alfred Tomblin and their son Hugh Tomblin married my grandmother, Millie Vance Messer Tomblin. If you need either of these lines let me know. Brenda from Michigan Researching Adams, Andersen, Browning, Baisden, Bryant, Vance, Hatfield, Colegrove, Newsome
Kathy, What are the birth years involved with Rhoda & Samuel and also Isaac & Elizabeth? Brenda From Michigan Researching: Adams, Andersen, Baisden, Browning , Bryant, Colegrove, Newsome, Hatfield, Vance and Woerpel and those that married 'em. Love is growing together, separately.
