For you that have asked me where to get the book 'The McCoys - their Story' by Truda Williams McCoy, edited by Leonard Roberts, I pre ordered this book through advertisement on the Hatfield site on the web. That page has now expired, I have tried to get there, no luck. I have also checked the Barnes and noble site for the book, not there. The only info I have now is it was published by the Preservation Council Press of the Preservation Council of Pike County, Inc. - Pikeville, Kentucky, 1976. That is written inside the book. I wonder if this was a special re-print for the celebration of the Hatfield - McCoy Reunion? On the back cover is the address Box 981, Pikeville, KY 41501 . Wanda, They are not in this book under the genealogy section. The book gives the children of William McCoy and his children b. 1773 through 1801, and then their children. Only one Rebecca, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth McCoy, b. 1805. Last week I received the book I preordered, 'The McCoys, Their Story' by Truda Williams McCoy, It is fan-tab-ublous. The back third is genealogy and I have made even more connections within my family lines. 42 pictures. Truda was born in 1902 in Pikeville, a teacher. She had collected enough material to write a book in 1935, interviewed McCoys for 15 years but tucked it away. She left it to her children when she passed away in 1974. I got the info off the McCoy web site, I think it's on the Hatfield site also. It is the first time the story of the McCoy's has been told, they say. She married a McCoy, descended from McCoy and was in Who's Who in America. It's a must have for some of you. The inside jacket says allied families traced in it are Blankenship, Blackburn, Charles, Cline, Hunt, Justice, Roberts, Scalf, Scott, Stafford, Staton and Williamson. This book says copyright 1976, edited by Leonard W. Roberts. If you don't have it, I sure recommend it. Yes I do Sherry I have to find it, but I will send it to you in a short. Someone else sent it out not to long ago. When you go into it, put postoffices mingo county, and you will find it. You also have to do variant spellings or listings. Sherry and all; I believe there is a Fairview which is north of Williamson, just past the train tunnel. I use to visit friends (KIRKs) of my father after he died. Recall there were 2 cemeteries on hill behind the house. This would have been in the 40's. Cemeteries were unmarked an in wild brush and with snakes and blackberries.
