Dear Friends, I am writing in hope of untangling a few mysteries and need all the help I can get. The response below helps to answer 2 questions but now adds a few more. This is what I have. I needed to know where Merrimac was as it is listed as the cemetery that A Muncy was buried at. I had thought it might be related to my mother Mary Louise Welch. Now I find it might have been related to here stepmother, Maryetta Hodge Welch. I still have no clue as to the Litton Family which is my moms' mother. Here name was Ethel Litton Welch and I believe she died around 1933-34. This line is a huge brick wall. I think they were from Martin Co and later settled in Pike and Johnson Counties. Mom was born in Pond Creek, Goody KY in 1933. Later they moved to StoneCoal W.Va.. The family was of course miners. The notes asks the name of Pollys' first husband. That I can answer it was Dennis Welch. He would have been related to my Mom, cousins. New question ... did Polly remarry? who? Also I see that Pollys' Mom was a Castle. I am still searching for the Castle family that had a murder in it around 1870, so far no luck. Also this Ermal Thompson that answered the original post. I have tried on several occasions to contact him. His mail bounces back to me. I also have a letter from an attorney named Thompson with a partner named Maynard from Inez KY regarding several divorce issues in the late 1930's. One of the names in this letter is Mary Branham. I don't have a clue as to how she fits in. So if any of you get bored feel free to solve any of the old mysteries for me. Thank you much. Now that my 84 hours a week are over I can once again enjoy my research and get back to my friends. I have just a little information, and am hoping to gather more on my maternal Great Grandmother's family... Her maiden name was Pennington. I have heard that both her father and mother died in a mental institution in Mingo County, West Virginia, and that they were native americans. Does anyone know of such an institution or anything of that name? I have heard they were of the Delaware or Leni Lanape indians. Thank you. Kelly Purvis
I received this from another list! I wanted to spread the word! Kim Hello!! I have created a Website of Volunteers who will do various types of Look Ups such as Census, Cemetery, Marriage, and much more. I even have a message board for people to post messages looking for family information. I am also looking for new volunteers to help out to do look ups. Please tell everyone you know that is doing genealogy. The more people who visit the website and use it, the longer it will stay online. Hello Dianna, I need to thank you, for the directions to The Starr Cemetaries. I followed your directions and went right to them. It was a big help. Are you a Starr? I was just wondering? Any how thank you so much for your help. One is located just about a mile from the junction of 119 South & Rt 65. It is just at the entrance to Conley Branch Hollow. My great-great grandparents, aunts & uncles are buried there. The other one is located just a 1/2 mile north of there, on Caney Branch Hollow. My great grandparents, aunts & uncles are also buried there. Both cemeteries are located on private property. The one at Conley Branch is no problem to go research. My family lives right across the creek from it! If you need further info, please let me know! > > Dianna > >
Hi, I'm sorry, but this email must have come to me by mistake. My family is from WV, but I am not related to the Starr family. (that I know of yet) Good luck on your search. By the way, do you know of any info on the Roberts, Blankenship, Riffe, or Hardin lines? Cyndi Roberts Mohler
Amazon.com has found every out of print book that I've requested ....might try there! wboatr wrote: > For you that have asked me where to get the book 'The McCoys - their Story' by Truda Williams McCoy, edited by Leonard Roberts, I pre ordered this book through advertisement on the Hatfield site on the web. That page has now expired, I have tried to get there, no luck. I have also checked the Barnes and noble site for the book, not there. The only info I have now is it was published by the Preservation Council Press of the Preservation Council of Pike County, Inc. - Pikeville, Kentucky, 1976. That is written inside the book. I wonder if this was a special re-print for the celebration of the Hatfield - McCoy Reunion? On the back cover is the address Box 981, Pikeville, KY 41501 . This is the address that I sent a check to on March 2, and the price including shipping was $29.15. > > Diane S. Reed
