Hi All, I visited the Eusebia Cemetery the other day and made some additions to the page. It was hot and a thunder storm approaching, so I rushed through the cemetery. There are still questions on some of the stones, if you have additional information or visit this cemetery - please let me know of verification. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvminera/eusebia.htm Patti
Hi Patti - I have written at times regarding this cemetery, but this is the first time I've seen anything posted on it. I visited the cemetery several times in the last ten years. Many of the Allens are relatives. My first question is (and was) is there anyone who is caretaker at this cemetery and do you know if there is anyone to contact who would be able and willing to make repairs to some of the headstones for a price. I noticed last summer when I was there that there were repairs made to at least one headstone in the back left of the cemetery. It always appears that the church is not used anymore - do you know if this is true? I have some information on some of these individuals. I don't know how much information you want on them, but for example: Thomas Allen (I have a rubbing from his headstone) who was born in Ireland and came to this country at about age 6 years died June 30, 1853 (as his headstone states "about 75 years old"). He had two brothers that I don't have information on other than that one settled in Missouri and one in Illinois eventually. Thomas was married to Ruhama (nee McBride) Allen whose headstone is also broken and next to his. They had ten children: James, Robert, Arthur, Thomas, John, Ruhamy, Rhoda, Zelpha, Betty, Jane. Thomas Allen's will is recorded Book 17 page 105 at the Keyser Courthouse. They lived along Patterson's Creek on what is now Horseshoe Run Road. I have information on others, but as I said, I don't know how much of it you might be interested in. I was so happy to see that someone is interested in this beautiful old cemetery. Thanks, Marylou Nordberg (nee Allen)
Marylou, I am an Allen decendant also. I too have visited the Eusebia Cemetary. I descend through Arthur Allen. Would you like to exchange family information off the list? Lonny J.
