My great-grandmother, Louella Jane Welch, was married to Jacob Sampson Oates. He was the son of Sampson Oates and Susan Kabrick. I believe Sampson (the father) was the son of Jacob Oats and a woman named Slonaker. Is anyone working on these lines? I have some names and approximate dates, but no source documentation.
