Ginger, I am still searching for proof of Sarah Kerns' marriage to a Foley. I thought it was Jasper, because of a court signature. I then looked at Dennis Foley. You mentioned John Kerns' will in Mineral County. Do you mean John Kerns Sr. (b. 1760) of Eastern Hampshire County or are you referring to his son John Kerns Jr. (b. 1808), who married Catherine Horn? Did John Jr. file a will in Mineral County? I believe we are coming closer to solving this. The Cowgill sister that you mentioned was Catherine Kerns (1804-1886) who married Henry Cowgill. Wilmer L. Surely someone knows something more. I think my Foley's came from the Mineral, Old town Maryland area. I have a Dennis Foley in the Allegany County Orphan court records where his estate was sold; after debts paid think the estate had about a dollar maybe three. No family listed. A Mitchell or Michaels was adminstrator, relationship unkown, maybe court appointed. Then there is a tax record for about the same time period for the old town district No. 6 I think where a house was the property being tax and was sold or reverted to a Mr. Lantz ( I think don't remember from top of head ) mention there were heirs but no names again. Listed in the 1790 or 1800 census with children and wife. next year he is gone and a Susanne Foley (I believe appears on the census records for the county). My Dennis could possible be son of this man. This Dennis marry a Sarah (Possible Kerns) A Sarah Kerns Foley is mention in John Kerns's will in Mineral county. Is this my Dennis's wife? Is there no one in the descendants of this John Kerns who know anything about this Sarah Kerns. She had a Sister who married a Cowgill, and several other siblings that I can remember right now. But surely some one knows something. Jasper is a name that is familiar, along with John William, James William, John, Sibley, Ferry, Penelope, of course Dennis. The Jasper you mention birth would put him as possible in the same family as my Dennis was born about 1805 Ginger Foley patndi@westco.net ----- Original Message ----- From: <MckyMllr@aol.com> To: <WVMINERA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 03, 2005 2:35 PM Subject: Re: [WVMINERA] Leatherman > I have just a Jasper Foley who married a Katherine Leatherman whose birthdate > is 12/25/1807.
