Katrin, Frances (Dayton) Greaves did a lot of research on the Dayton family. Her research is in Allegany County, MD, but I forget exactly where it is located. The Genealogical Society probably has it. Anyway, Frances has that Patrick Miller "Pad" Dayton 1st married Caroline (Culp), daughter of John J. and Margaret Ann Culp. Caroline was born on July 29, 1854 and died Feb. 28, 1879. Does this help? This is not my family, but I just happen to have a copy of the page that information was on.
