There seems to be plenty of cross family marriages to link the families. Do you know why the family names changed during the Census taking, was it just the Census takers interpretations or did the families make the change for some reason? Dan Dan

I am going to be posting requests to try and fill in any holes that I have found over the next few days. I hope I don't mislead you again. I am interested in trying to fill in names into the age categories for the early census information where the Mineral County web site information only lists total number of male(s) and Female(s) for the early families.     3. Dan Haines, I see this again, so guess you didn't get a reply earlier from me. Lydia Adams did marry Jacob Stockslager. Notice how I found the spelling in records. Jacob was born about 1770 in Virginia. Lydia was born in Frankfort, Now Fort Ashby, Hampshire County, now Mineral Co., West Virginia on Jun 30 1804. They had five children. I can give you there names. When Dr. Lewis Dunn died in 1838 in Frnakfort, Jacob Stockslager owed him according to the accounting: "No. 37 Jacob Stockslager receipt for $5.66 interest from 15 March 1827 to 10 June 1830 $1.09" This appears to be $5.66 principal and $1.09 interest. ------------------- Samuel Brady was probably the first merchant of any importance in Frankfort. He operated a large chain of stores, one of which was located here years before the Civil War. It is said that almost any article asked for could be bought there. People are known to have traded with him regularly from Keyser and above and also from what is now Ridgeley when the Potomac River could not be forded to Cumberland. The more important tradesmen in the early days of Frankfort were Dennis Daniels, cooper; Isaac Richards, blacksmith; Jacob Stockslater, hatter; Richard Berry, shoemaker; Hezekiah Whiteman, tanner; and Colonel John Johnson, surveyor. Frances Arbana was a Malcolm not a Burner. She was related to the (living) wife of Elbert Hull Cromer, deceased. Arbana was said to be part Indian, but I haven't found any proof of this, as yet.

Harvey (1864-1917). It lists on the back the photographer, Jno. T. Wilde of Piedmont, V. Va. Can anyone tell me when Mr. Wilde provided his services in Piedmont so I can narrow when the picture was taken? I also have another tintype of an unidentified young lady which lists Wilde & Sons of Piedmont, W. Va. Can anyone help? Thanks!
