I refer you to Hal Phillips who is "Our family expert" at this. His name is posted several times on this site. He really knows more than all of us! Good luck. We did tour W.Virg.as a family reunion group...and will be in Illinois in 2007 for another reunion. We have a good turn out and help each other find/answer questions. Are you aware of the Shobe Family website on My Family .com managed by Hal (his wife is a Shobe)?

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xEC.2ACI/355.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Wow, Katheryn. I don't know what to say. Too bad that Rev. William Junkins's obit leaves the names of his mother and father out. I will tell you that I don't have documentation to prove or disprove any thing concerning Ruth Fitzwater, only that I got my info from two sources, they are Marshall G. Brown, who is the author of " GENEALOGY OF THE HARVEY FAMILY OF GARRETT COUNTY, MARYLAND " and another researcher, Earlene Liller Babcock, who wrote " HISTORY OF THE LILLER FAMILY " .She also wrote a paper on the Junkins Family. In Earlene paper she writes ; <> The following was taken from “The Weekender Edition: News Tribune, Mountain Echo” in Keyser, WestVirginia in 1978 which ran a series of articles titled “Our Mountain Heritage”, written by Mona Ridder. The following quote was taken from the article dated 9 September 1978: <> Three Junkins brothers, Richard, William, and John W., arrived in what is now Mineral County in approximately 1795, that being the year in which Richard and the Reverend William Junkins acquired land near Hartmonsville and Emoryville. The younger brother, John W., was born in Londonderry, Ireland, in 1780. His desire to venture to America with his brothers was apparently so strong that he stowed away aboard ship and was not discovered until too far out to send him back.<> John married twice, first to RUTH FITZWATER and second to ELIZABETH ANDERSON. He reared his family on a large farm adjacent to that of Elijah Harvey near Emoryville. Portions of both the original Junkins and Harvey farms remain in the possession of the descendants of W.M. Junkins and Millie Harvey to this day.~~ <> When the author was ask where she obtained her information, she replied that all her information came from “The Saunders Papers”. Located in the Keyser, West Virginia Library, or from her husband at that time, Dixon Ridder. Upon checking “The Sanders Papers” and not locating the information there, Mr. Ridder was called. He was very pleasant, but vague as to where this Junkins story was found. Mr. Ridder must have been elderly at the time as the author notes that he seemed quite capable of recalling information of the history of the area and family, but was unable to recall current matters. ( At this time I would like to say that I know Mona Riddle ( now Mona Ender ) and Dixon Riddle ( who is not elderly ) Mona is a half 2nd cousin and Dixon is a cousin , 3rd once removed. Marshall G. Brown is also a cousin, 3rd once removed. ( I trust their info.) Charles W. Harvey ( I have the names and dates of 26 Fitzwater's from the area, Garrett Co., MD and Hamsphire Co., VA ( now Mineral Co,m WV ) Maybe you can help me with some info that I am missing)

    3. To Debbie Rodeheaver Fleming: Are you related to Charles Fleming who was married to Virginia Miller and lived just off route 50 in Burlington? Their home was up on the hill and their next door neighbor was Rexroads (I think that is spelled correctly) off Patterson Creek Road. I'm related to Virginia Miller and thought you might have some information on her if you are related to Charles Fleming. Virginia was my grandmother's (Lula Sophia Miller) sister. Her parents were Charles Miller and Mary Blackburn who lived on Horseshoe Run Road. Thanks, Marylou Nordberg

    2. Branches & Lil' Twigs
    3. Hello fellow researchers, I am just sharing what may be of help to someone. GermanAssistant is a tiny application (free download) providing an unobtrusive and flexibly configurable German characters add-on toolbar (small icon) equipped with extraordinary AutoPaste feature that sits on top of your screen. Using it is simple and easy to assist you in entering into your document the special German characters. Hence, Guenther with a click of a mouse becomes Günther, Schroeder becomes Schröder, an improperly spelled Mueller with a mouse-click becomes Müller, Schroeder becomes Schröder and Strasse becomes what it is really supposed to be Straße, UNIVERSITAET becomes UNIVERSITÄT. Can be used with any genealogy or word processing program; where ever you may need to insert a German umlaut. http://www.geocities.com/visualfantasy_studio/

    3. I haven't seen anything coming through and was puzzled. Received a Romney paper dates 12/22 and there was an obit that interested me. For some years, I have wished to know more about a family from Ft. Ashby area headed by a Lloyd Nelson. I see that his wife Hazel just died 12/16. The family certainly has my sympathy. I haven't found anyone interested in telling me about their family, but know they have yearly reunions. I want so desperately to find my Nelson roots. Mrs. Nelson was a Thomas - I find both families living in Gore, WV on the 1930 census as next-door neighbors. If anyone can help me with either family - I would appreciate it. Mr. Nelson died in June of 1961 according to her obituary. I would like a copy of the obit. Thanks - Karen Nelson Hangsleben
