I have had trouble connecting to the exact address for the vital records. Can you tell me where to connect from their home page? The site tells me it is not available. Maybe if I go through the steps I might have better luck, Thanks to anyone that can help me. Gloira

Yes! This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Broome Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xEC.2ACI/795 Message Board Post: I just checked the 1782 enumerations and when the page came up it has 1792. Is this a mistake? It has my ancester listed, however, my records show that he was only there in 1782. I had found it published in a book as 1782. I also have not located him in 1792 but when I located him later there were more than 3 in the family with some of the children being born between 1782 and 1792.
For whoever hasn't yet seen this: The WV State Archives is putting indexed images of birth, death, and marriage records for various counties online at http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_login.aspx. You have to register (merely e-mail is enough), but it's free. It's an ongoing project, so some counties aren't there or aren't completed. The index entries are linked to digital images of the actual records, and you can save them to your computer or print them out. This made MY day! :) Martha Grenzeback graymatters@alltel.net
When researching these early records, are most kept in Richmond, or West Virginia? Also, are there good baptism and other church records for Hampshire/Mineral county. My other line is from Shenandoah Co, and church records there have been my best source. Susan, Thanks. As far back as we are able to track is Benjamin Rawlings who married Julia Newcomb. Their daughter Catherine married a Danial Leatherman. Their daughter Julia married Benjamin Welch (Son of Isaac and Nancy). Elijah Rawlings (either Benjamin's brother or son )married a Hannah Leatherman. Peter Rawlings grandson of Benjamin married Lauranna Welch (daughter of Isaac and Nancy Welch. Peter and Lauranna's son Elijah Rawlings married Hester Ann Welch. She was the daughter of Charity Welch (Isaac and Nancy Welch's daughter.) (Lauranna and Benjamin's sister). Elijah and Hester Ann were my husband's Great Great Grandparents. We have been able to find Peter Rawlings grave on the Welch farm. Lauranna is recorded as being buried in the Cabin Run Cemetery but no head stone. We have been searching for the location of the old Rawlings homestead on Patterson creek road to no avail. We believe the original land was lot #1 first granted to Parkers. We are in search for Benjamin and Julia Newcomb, Rawlings graves. We would also like to find the graves for Elijah and Hester Ann. We have done a lot of foot work in the area and met many nice people. But not able to find graves. Hopefully some one out there knows.
