This happened somewhere in WV or PA...not sure. I just know he's buried in Terra Alta. His father, William Golden was also a RR Engineer and worked for the B&O. Over the span of several years, he went from Cumberland & Westernport MD, to Newberg, WV...then finally to Keyser. He came to Keyser sometime in the 1880's is my guess and retired around 1900. I'm trying to see if anyone has any working photographs of the trains and engineers just to see if I can find a picture of him.

I believe my great-grandfather, Jacob Sampson Oats, also worked for the B&O.

Ginger, I am still searching for proof of Sarah Kerns' marriage to a Foley. I thought it was Jasper, because of a court signature. I then looked at Dennis Foley. You mentioned John Kerns' will in Mineral County. Do you mean John Kerns Sr. (b. 1760) of Eastern Hampshire County or are you referring to his son John Kerns Jr. (b. 1808), who married Catherine Horn? Did John Jr. file a will in Mineral County? I believe we are coming closer to solving this. The Cowgill sister that you mentioned was Catherine Kerns (1804-1886) who married Henry Cowgill. Wilmer L. Thanks Helen, It is hard to tell at the moment as one of the images will not open. Will have to wait until I can look at both birth register and see if there are two. It certainly appears that they would be the same but it is questionable since they both give different information as if there were two different informants.
