Does anyone know where I can obtain a death certificate in Mineral Co for someone that passed on in 1895.
If you contact the Mineral County Clerk's Office, they will probably type you one. They did this recently for me. I think it was something like a $2 charge. You can contact them at the Mineral County Courthouse, Keyser WV 26726 Patti At 06:16 AM 8/16/00 -0500, you wrote: >Does anyone know where I can obtain a death certificate in Mineral Co for >someone that passed on in 1895.
Kim, I have a old map of Mineral County, the co. had 349 sq. miles, from which six magisterial districts,Cabin Run,Elk,Piedmont,Frankfort,New Creek and Welton.Shaw was in Elk District,Elk Garden is altogether different,it is a seperate town in Elk District.Carol ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, August 15, 2000 2:44 PM Subject: [WVMINERA] Census ? > I was looking at the 1900 census for Mineral Co, last night and I was > wondering if anyone could clear something up for me. > > It said the county was Mineral > then (as much as I could make out) said something like division of county was > Elk District and then under that said city, union or villiage within the > above county was Shaw. If you are talking about W.Va. counties, you do not need a SSN to get a death certificate. I do believe that you need an approximate date of death. To find a SSN for a deceased person, check the SSDI featured on a few different websites, including rootsweb.com and ancestry.com. The information given depends when the person died, but in W.Va., you can expect to find the person's name, date of birth, place of birth, names of parents, cause of death and name of death informant. NOTE that not ALL this info is always given--it depends on how much the death informant knew. Later death records give more info, such as spouse, funeral home, and cemetery.
I was looking at the 1900 census for Mineral Co, last night and I was wondering if anyone could clear something up for me. It said the county was Mineral then (as much as I could make out) said something like division of county was Elk District and then under that said city, union or villiage within the above county was Shaw. What all does this exactly mean. I think I have found my grandmother on this census. She was born in Elk Garden in 1899. Is Elk Garden the same as Elk District. thanks in advance Kim
Hi Judy, I have been researching my husband's lines of Grapes & Gray for close to 3 years in the counties you mention. Contact me personally and hopefully we can exchange information. Joyce
I am so sorry to ask if someone might know where Saw Mill Trail would have been 1826 after I have had so much trouble with South Branch. Thanks again and again Thelma

His mother was Clara Arbutus Green who married William Benjamin Decker. Clara's parents were Thomas Frederick Green and Lydia Jane Harris. Thomas parents were Dr. John Green and Elizabeth Barnhouse. Dr. Johns parents were Richard Greenhalgh and Ruth Ridings. I was amazed to see all of these surnames in one posting (except Decker) This is as far as I have been able to get. If you have found any info on Greenhalg and Riding I would be so grateful. Feel free to email me at [email protected] Thankyou Susan R. Decker

Posted on: Mineral County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/WV/Mineral~/205 Surname: Anderson, Simpson, Decker, Green ------------------------- I am searching for information on my grandmother, Ruby M.Anderson Decker. She was born in 1900 and married Rev. Victor Carl Decker. She had 9 children, my father Victor Jr being the 8th. My grandparents moved around a bit after their children were grown because my grandfather was a minister but their final home together was on Rt 46 outside of Keyser, W.Va. near Ft. Ashby in Mineral County. Her parents, I have been told were James and May or Mae(Simpson) Anderson. She has at least one brother that I know for sure. His name is Charles Theodore Anderson, fondly known as Bud. b.1912 d. 1979. My grandmother Ruby passed away in 1969. If you have knowledge about her and her family, I would be so grateful. Please feel free to email me at [email protected]
If you know the death date and location you can get a copy of the death certificate from the state's vital records department. Usually, the death certificate shows, birth date & place, death date & place, maiden name (if married female), name of spouse (if married), residence, parents names and birth location, cause of death, and burial location (if they died after 1900). You will need to know in which state they died, in order to contact the correct vital records department. Try looking in Berkeley County, WV, for your VanMeter link. I have VanMeter's from Berkeley Co. & I believe part of them (not my line) moved to Hampshire Co. The Berkeley County Historical Society can be contacted by writing to: Mr. Don Wood, President Berkeley County Historical Society Box 1624 Martinsburg, WV 25402 Hope this helps. Hi I am wondering if anyone can tell me how to go about getting a birth certificate or death certificate for someone if you only know there name and where they were living during a specific time. Thank in advanced kim
I am wondering if anyone has ever heard of someone having 2 birth certificates and what this all could mean. My dad has 2. One of them with one name and no father, the other one with a different name, same mother, same doctor, same county and time but has a father listed. But both of them are on file at the county court house. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thank in advance Kim
I am wondering how you go about requesting a death cetificate on someone with the social security number is unknown/ Also how do you go about finding a ss# on this person. What kind of informaiton does a dc give. Thanks in advance for your time. Kim
