Kenneth, Do you have definite information that Thomas was John Michaels' father? And was Hannah Kiles his wife? My husband descends from Jacob also. I descend from Joseph or Frederick; not verified yet. I have been at a brick wall on this family for quite awhile and have not been able to find many others researching this family. Would love to share information. Sharon Malone Knotts [email protected]
I descend from a William A. Wagoner(b. 1853 Allegheny, MD) , son of Josiah(b.1830 Allegheny Co., MD)...son of Jacob(1790 Frankfort, WV-1857Ft. Ashby, WV)I have no Christopher or Eliza....athough they're probably connected. My Jacob goes back to Thomas Wagoner(Captain)1719-ca1760) I have three children for Thomas: Margaret, Catherine(m. Adams), and my John Michael Wagoner(1752-1790) Hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: Susan King <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, August 30, 2000 3:13 PM Subject: [WVMINERA] WAGGONERS, OLDTOWN, MD, 1800's > Posted on: Mineral County Queries > Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/WV/Mineral~/211 > > Surname: WAGGONER > ------------------------- > > Looking for any info on either Christopher WAGGONER, Sr. or Jr., or Elza > WAGGONER who resided in the Oldtown area in Maryland in the early 1800's. > Did these WAGGONERS originally cross over from Mineral Co., VA/WV? Susan, I believe that we have corresponded before about the Wag(g)oners. The earliest that I have found was John M. Waggoner who was born abt. 1752. His will, found in the Hampshire Co. Courthouse, was filed in 1837. It does not list a Christopher. I have read some history that shows a Thomas Waggoner in Hampshire/Mineral Co. WV in the mid 1700's during the French and Indian War. He built a fort in 1756 (Fort Buttermilk or Fort Waggoner) in Hardy Co., WV near Moorefield. I have been told, but have not documented, that he was the father of John M.Waggoner and Catherine Waggoner who lived and died in Hampshire/Mineral Co. John Waggoner is the only Waggoner listed in the 1782 Enumeration. The GNIS Map Server shows a village or community of Wagoner located on the Potomac River in the northwestern corner of what is now Mineral County. It looks like it is about halfway between Patterson Creek (which is across the river from Spring Gap) and Green Spring (across the river from Oldtown.) All of this probably doesn't help much but it seems likely that these families were connected. If I stumble onto anything about a Christopher I will let you know. Stewart's Tavern in Short Gap, WV, has been placed on the National Historic Register. There was a news article in the Daily News-Tribune on Aug. 28, 2000, about the tavern.
Hi, I've just posted the June 23, 1911 News Tribune Articles to the Mineral County USGenWeb Page. You can view these articles at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvminera/keynews.htm Enjoy! :) Patti McDonald Burlington WV [email protected] Co-Coordinator Mineral County USGenWeb Project http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvminera/mineral.htm Subscribe to Mineral County Mailing List [email protected] Surnames I am researching: HARTMAN, WOLFE, MILLER, FLEEK, WHITEMAN, PUFFENBARGER, FITZPATRICK, COOKUS, CORBUS, DYE, WALSH
Yes, Susan, write to County Clerk, Carl Thomas, 150 Armstrong St., Keyser, WV 26726. There is a charge for copies, but is very minimal. Give them the Book & Page Number off the Mineral Co. will index, along with full names. They will send it to you along with an invoice for costs. Hope this helps. I've done this a few times. They are real nice people up/down there. Best Wishes Barbara in WV Susan Drake wrote: > I noticed that the names of a great-uncle and a great-aunt appear in the > Mineral Co. will index. Yes, you can get copies of wills. Write to the Clerk of Court at the courthouse, giving all the information you have, especially full names and dates.
I noticed that the names of a great-uncle and a great-aunt appear in the Mineral Co. will index. Could anyone with experience of the Mineral Co. CH know if I would be able to get copies of the wills for geneaological purposes? Thanks. Susan Drake Waverly, WV

To Whom It may concern: I'm not sure why I received this email, but since I did, I was wondering if the Hampshire County Death Record Books 1 and 2 would have any entries for the following people: Charles or Rebecca "Becky" Leatherman any time after 1870 Amos Leatherman who died September 13, 1987, I am desperately trying to find where he is buried. C and R were my GGGrandparents, and Amos was my GGrandpa. He married Laura Spears, she died in 1932, and is buried in Keyser, but no one seems to know where Amos is buried. He died from some sort of accident, it was either in Hampshire, Mineral, or Grant County. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Buddy Cooper [email protected]
Why did I receive this email? I have no idea, who this person is, or why I received your response. Sorry. Buddy Cooper
