    3. RIGGLEMAN / ARONHALT FAMILY If you have access to the WV TTT, I'd very much appreciate a lookup. I'm seeking info pertaining the Aronhalt family. When in Moorefield several weeks ago for a family reunion, I discovered another Aronhalt connection in a book on the Riggleman Family at Moorefield's fine genealogy library. Listed was: Abraham Lincoln Riggleman (b. 1867) md Lucinda Aronhalt. One child. Isaac Riggleman (b. 1870) md Kate Riggleman. (A railroad worker, Isaac is reported to have died abt. 1901 after being run over by a train). These Riggleman brothers were sons of Jacob Riggleman and Margaret Champ. The gals they married were sisters and the children of Andrew and Eliza (Evans) Aronhalt. Is anyone on the List familiar with this Riggleman line? If so, I'd love to hear from you!!!! Thanks, Carolyn

    3. Patti, Thank you so much for all your hard work in bringing these articles to us. I just loved the item about the doctor who, in July 1911, predicted that smoking and chewing of tobacco in public would become obsolete within 15 years. If he only knew! It has taken almost 100 years, but we are working on it. We are just about rid of the smoke in public places; now, if we could just rid ourselves of the chewing and spitting. Of course, it doesn't harm the health of others, but seeing someone spit that vile brown mixture of tobacco and saliva is disgusting. Thank God there aren't too many of them around. Elaine

Hi Paul, the earliest Miller I have is John Miller who married a Polly (? first or surname) They had Absolom, Rebecca, who m. Peter McDonald, Polly Miller, who m. George McDonald, and last but not least Stephen Miller who was b. 1798 Cumberland Co., d. Sept 14, 1877 and is buried in Fairview Cem, Gore VA. He married Ann(a) Crider and had Sarah A., who m. S. Miller, John Hamilton, Margaret E. who m. Joseph Clark, William Luther, (who I am descended from) Frances A. and Elizabeth Jane. Anna Crider Miller died 6 wks after birth of Elizabeth Jane. He married Rebecca Heirominus and they had Wesley Trone Miller. John Hamilton Miller married an Elizabeth Catherine Miller in the home of Wilson Whitacre. At that point, the name of Dora is used for one of their sons, Dora Stephen Miller. If any of these cross with any of yours, please let me know. It's amazing how many Millers and Mellons there are in that part of the Country. My Grandmother was a Mellon who's family included Oates, Kerns and somewhere along the line Sirbaughs. What area are you from?

The 1880 OH census, in fact, does show A.W. Miller, age 23, Mary, age 21, Bertha, age 1, and Dora, age 12, living there. Dora was listed as a sister. Connie said that "Dora" was a name used in Miller family circles. Dora Elmer Eaton, who married a Miller, bore the name. Bertha Miller, my grandmother, was named after Bertha Miller. Does anyone out there in cyberspace know what happened to Dora Miller, age 12 in 1880?

    3. Lois, I am not sure my Kearney's ever lived in Mineral County. The Mineral County connection that led us this far in the discussion came from my guess that my Michael Kearney was the Michael Carney in Jack Sanders' book. The response from the National Archives when I sent for his pension file was that they didn't have my Michael (different wives and death dates) and the one they had died in Piedmont, WV. Some of my Kearneys lived in Westernport, MD at some time. My grandfather, Michael Patrick Kearney, married for the second time Margaret McKone in Westernport in 1885. His father and mother, Michael and Ellen Cosgrove Kearney appear to have lived in Mount Savage since immigration until Michael's death in 1877. Ellen then appears to have moved to Cumberland to live with her eldest daughter, Anna McHugh. They lived at 20 S. Lee Street there (at least that is one address). Ellen died there in 1898. On the McKone side of my ancestry, however, they lived for a time in Cumberland (1860), then Westernport (1870) and Piedmont, WV (1880 and later). -- Barbara Williamson [email protected] Researching KEARNEY (CARNEY) 1850 IRL>MD MCKONE (MCKEON, MCKEONE, MCKEOWN) 1850 IRL>PA>MD>WV CLARKE 1848 IRL>MD>WV COSGROVE 1850 IRL>MD BROD 1840 GER>MO PETERS NY>CA>MO>TN Volunteer of Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness at http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnraogk/index.htm Member of the Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild http://istg.rootsweb.com

    2. Sorry, I guess I was a little incoherent. The estate sale I am transcribing (1847) does not mention Moses Thomas--you would have to order a copy of Moses's sale and inventory from the WV Archives. I think that the library of WV University, Morgantown, and the DAR library in Washington also have these documents on microfilm. I think they all charge about the same though (check their web pages), and I have tried the Archives and found their service to be prompt and professional. Good luck!
