Linda, Coming from Shawnee Lake I would be making a Right onto Reese Harmon Ridge. The back side of my Grandfather's farm comes out up by Fairlawn Cemetary, so I do believe we have talked before.... I don't know why but folks who live in the Lashmeet area who have mail delivered to their houses, have a Rock address. My sister lives at Reese Harmon Road off the main road thru Lashmeet and she has a Rock address. When you top the hill and see the Lashmeet sign do you turn left or right? The first left turn before the two churches takes you out Reese Harmon Ridge. If you turn left across from the big white church you are going out Wright Mountian/ Mt. Olive way? Linda PS I think we've talked before about the Fairview Cemetery (or Cook's Cemetery) out Bicknal Flats -----Original Message----- From: wvmercer-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:wvmercer-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Missy Coyne Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2008 8:26 AM To: LeeHash@aol.com Cc: wvmercer@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [WVMERCER] Census 1930 My Grandfather lived in Rock. I went into Google maps and pulled up the area. It looks like Matoaka is above Rock. What I found interesting is that when I go down there, right before I make the turn to go up the mountain to my grandfather's house, there is a sign that says "Lashmeet" on it. According to the map, Lashmeet is above Matoaka and Rock is below Matoaka. Maybe Matoaka is like the main area and Rock is the city within the area? I know that some of the little businesses and the Church along that main road (10 I think) have Rock somewhere in their name. It's been awhile since I've been down there though. Maybe someone who lives there might better be able to answer that question. Hi all, Do any of you researching the Rock area know of or heard of any Pillars or Scott's? Fronie (Cynthia) Pillars Scott was my ggrandmother and died in 1926 after chilbirth. Her mother was Lottie Pillars and her father was Charlie Pillars. They lived in Rock most of the time. She is said to be buried in Freeman at Oakhill cemetery. I went there last summer but I couldn't find her grave.
