Hi BJ I haven't talked to you in a long time.  I am working the Moten, Lilly, Gore, etc line  We have talked before How are you doing.   I work in the Summers and Mercer area of West Virginia.  Dad was in another county, but I can't think of it right now.   Mine father which is the Moten Line come north from North Carolina and his mother was from Virgina line and I not sure how they meet, but she died before he did and when back to NC and than in 1910 and was with their bunch of Kids.  She died in WV around the 1890.  But have not been able to find her death record.  Take Care Sandy ________________________________ From: "BJRobertsOkes@aol.com" <BJRobertsOkes@aol.com> To: WVMERCER-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, April 24, 2009 10:42:57 AM Subject: [WVMERCER] WV research To anyone doing research back in time.  Particularly in counties of  any state that are near the state boundaries.  The state lines may have  changed over time.  Also, one state may have counties that have same names  as a neighboring State. I do not know the exact year but, the state line between Virginia and West  Virginia changed. So a person born in a VA location back could now find those  records in WV. My husband and I have property and family on the Summers County/Mercer  County line.  Therefore do alot of research in the area.  Unfortunately I do not live in the State. Always check your time lines and state lines.  The person may not ever  have moved from the house of his/her birth but "address change occurred" which  will effect your census lookups.
