It can also be found in the Richmond Times Dispatch and the Bluefield Daily Telegraph. Slick's niece told me that he did not want his graveside service at an unmarked grave so it will take place some time after a marker is made and placed. Aubrey Wiley - Lynchburg, Va. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ George Russell Inge George Russell (Slick) Inge, 91, of 1332 South Ave. in Princeton, W. Va., a former resident of Mullens, WV, Athens, WV and Roanoke, VA, died Thursday, December 13, 2007 at his residence. Born in Victoria, Va. January 28, 1916, he was the son of the late George W. and Myrtle Rogers Inge. He retired in 1976 as a conductor from Norfolk & Western Railroad and formerly served as trainmaster for the Virginian Railroad during his railroad career. He also served the railroad in both the Norfolk and New River Divisions. He was a member of the Victoria Baptist Church in Victoria, Va. Slick was active throughout his life, helping organize Little League Baseball while in Mullens and serving on the Athens Town Council and Board of Directors of the Athens Volunteer Fire Department. He was a lifetime member of Princeton Elks Lodge #1459 and the United Transportation Union. In Roanoke he was a member of the Salem Kiwanis Club and the Fincastle Rifles of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Slick enjoyed his weekly dinner meetings with "Take Twenty", a retired railroaders dinner group. He had been a resident of Princeton for the past eight months, moving here from Roanoke, Va. In addition to his parents, his wife, Ruth Shumate Inge, one brother, Aubrey L. "Slick" Inge, two sisters, Hazel Inge and Lois Rice, along with a special friend of 26 years, Eleanor Gatherum, preceded him in death. Survivors include one niece, Betty Harman and her husband, George, with whom he made his home; one nephew, Dr. George Edgar Rice of Philadelphia, Pa.; and extended family, Dottie Flannery and her family of Harpers Ferry, W.Va. In keeping with his wishes, the body has been cremated. Private family graveside services will be conducted at the Lakeview Cemetery in Victoria, Va. at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the General Jubal A. Early, Preservation Trust, Inc., Box 638, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton is serving the Inge family.
