I lam new to the list. I was born in Boissevain, VA now living in California. My father, Arba Crabtree was born in Pocahontas but attended Mercer County Schools until 1918, at which time his father, Harold, died during the flu epidemic of that year. He also had a cousin, George Washington Crabtree to die about the same time. George was a mason that helped build some of those old cut stone buildings in Bluefield. George was married to Arba's half sister Virginia Harris. After George and Harold died, Virginia and her children moved in with her brothers that lived in Bramwell, WV. Just where Arba, his mother and two brothers lived is unclear to me. I would like to hear about any information any one has on the 1918 flu epidemic. I am certain that the Bluefield Daily Telegraph would have some articles of this tragic times. I would also like to know where these Crabtrees are buried. More recently was the passing of Arleigh Crabtree, son of George and Virginia, and his wife Scioto Hare Crabtree of Princeton. Any information along these lines would be greatly appreciated.
