    3. No, I'm sorry. I don't. Miss Ella wrote quite a long article about the town of Athens, in which she conducted the reader on an imaginary tour up and down the several primary streets of Athens. She commented on each house along these streets, and used that as a spring board to comment on the families who had lived there through the years. My recolection is that Miss Ella personally had no intention to publish this work. It was several years after her death, when the Mercer County Histories were being published, that her sister submitted the manuscript. I think it was probably about 20 years old by that time. Miss Ella lived to be about 96, and lived her entire life in Athens, except for about 20 years in young adulthood when she studied and taught in New York and in Italy. She was a marvelous and beloved person, who of course knew absolutely everyone in Athens. And they all knew her. If anyone else has any memories of Miss Ella, I would love to see them posted to the list.
