The West Virginia Legislature is again considering a bill (SB 90) which should be of interest to all genealogists with ties to this state. The bill deals with public access to cemeteries located on private land. The bill would ensure that family members and genealogists could not be denied reasonable access to those burial sites and cemeteries. There has been one recent change in the Committee membership, substitute Delegate Arley Johnson for Delegate John Pino. You can find the members of the committee at: http://www.legis.state.wv.us/House/hcom.html A similar message should also be sent to the Speaker of the House Robert Kiss and the Majority and Minority leaders. This bill was also up in the Legislature last year but died in a committee, we should urge the legislators to act quickly and get the bill out before the rush at the end of the session.
