He m Julia Ann Belcher, 1/10/1853 in Mercer Co., VA. daughter of Lewis Belcher and Rebecca Dillon. She was born 3/5/1835 in Mercer Co., VA. and died 8/31/1912 in Mercer Co., Va. Children of Gordon and Julia are Mary Jane Pennington, b unknown d 2/1/1930 and Floyd Pennington, b unknown, d 10/11/ 1872 in Mercer Co., Mary Jane Pennington, m (1) unknown (2) Alonzo Gooch Hartwell, m 10/20/1881, son of John Hartwell and Cynthia Dillon. Alonzo was b abt 1862 in Mercer Co., and d 4/29/1922 in Mercer Co., WV Children of Mary Pennington and Alonzo Hartwell are, the following Eva Pennington, believed to have been born out of wedlock, but from what we have found in the Mercer Co., records her father was Alonzo. Other children Charlie Edward Hartwell, b abt 1882, d 1941, Douglas Hartwell, b 6/21/1895, d 1/16/1948 Mercer Co., m Stella Long, 8/30/1922 Mercer Co., and Oscar David Hartwell, b 12/8/1900, d 6/9/1965 in Mercer Co... Eva Pennington Hartwell, b 2/2/1878 Mercer Co., d 5/19/1924, she m James Isaac Surface 10/6/1892 mercer Co., son of George Surface and Emarilla Dillon. He was b 10/10/1874 in Mercer Co., and d 5/19/1931. Eva and James Surface are parents of my grandmother, Alma Jane Surface, b 8/22 1893 in Mercer Co., d 7/29/1982 Raleigh Co., WV. Alma Surface m John Henry Harrison Fagg, 8/24/1907 in Mercer Co., he was b 9/10/1882 in New Bern, Va. and d 6/4/1955 in Fayette Co., WV. He was the son of Henry Fagg and Ruth Sands.
