> My greatgrandfather JOHN L. WILLIAMS was buried in a cemetery that was flooded in building the Bluestone Dam I see some references in the index to John Williams III, but nothing that I can be sure is you John L. One thing I remember from reading the book a few years ago is that the cemeteries that were flooded by the dam were not particularly well respected (or documented) or handled in a respectful way... I'll let you know if I see anything more. Dan

Hello Dan, I am very interested in knowing what your book has on the Swinneys. If you can share any information I will extremely grateful. My direct line is Green Meador4, Martin3, James2 and Moses1, but as I mentioned I am interested in any of the Swinneys. They had some fairly large families. Arthur, am I interested, you bet. I have been looking for any of his family for a long time. I talked to Eddie and he is supposed to get me some information on Jesse and his brothers and sisters but haven't heard from him yet. Jesse Terry was my grandmothers brother by Joseph Anderson Mabe's second wife Sophia Simmons Hicks Mabe. Josseph had a lot of children by his first wife Oney Martin that lived in that area also but I have found only one. Dan Jenkins in Alabama is a descendant of John Henry Mabe from Joseph and he has furnished a lot of information on his line. I would like to swap information about the Mabes if you will. I have a web page listing my grandparents up to date but don't have documentation too far back. Look and see if you are interestd. http://www.familytreemaker.con/users/s/a/n/GENE1-0001.html Clifford Sands ---------- > From: Arthur Davidson <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [WVMERCER] Mercer County History > Date: Thursday, January 20, 2000 8:29 AM > > Clifford::I personally knew Jessie Terry MABE, and, lived within 1,000 ft. > of him in > 1940-1941. I have found a copy of the book in the Library in Great Bridge, VA. They keep it in their history room and don't check it out to individuals. The Great Bridge Library is a 45 minute drive from my home, so it's not very easy for me to get to. You know how genealogy research is, when you find one piece of information, it just leads you on to more questions. I hate to be a bother and keep asking people to check the books for information for me. Besides that, sometimes when you start looking, you find links you didn't even know anything about. Dan, My greatgrandfather JOHN L. WILLIAMS was buried in a cemetery that was flooded in building the Bluestone Dam and we have never been able to find out anything about where and if he was moved. Could you look for his name in your New River Heritage book? He died 30 Nov. 1853. Thank you. Mary Ellen
Hi Linda, Somehow I missed the outline for the two above. I would really appreciate it if you would send it again. Thanks in advance. Mary Ellen
Dan, I am also very interested in what your book might have on the Swinneys since my fiance descends from them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Brenda Penfield, NY

I have volume three of this series. I got it at a place along the highway, I think it was called Tamarack.. It was $47, a bit pricey, but I'll do lookups.
