    3. I have been reading your Martin posts with interest. My line of Martins is this: Sparks Martin my gg grandpa m Sarah Guilliams James H. Martin g grandpa m. Sarah Jane Stoots my g grandma Mary Margaret Martin my grandma m. John Leander Harris m. Harold Crabtree, my grandpa. My father claimed to have been born in Pocahontas, VA but I have his school report for 1917/18 from Mercer County. I think he was born on a mountain near Bramwell and it was closer for him to attend school in Mercer County. Sometime between 1860 and 1900 they all moved from Smyth and Russell Counties, VA to Brush Fork and surrounding areas in and around Mercer County. At one time they lived in McDowell County, WV near Bishop. This part of their life is really fuzzy. I do know that the Crabtree, Harris, Martin, Justice and related families have been a close clan, migrating together and cross married several times throughout the years. Sarah Jane's second husband was P. M. Driver They lived in Iaeger, living there in the early 1920s and 30s. Sarah Jane also had a son, Leonard Martin that lived in Iaeger. I have very little imformation on any of these people although I do have some photos. I would appreciate any information that you Martins may have. 3. Sandy, This is indeed interesting. I am glad to get Macy's death date. And I didn't realize there were children from the second marriage. I'm going to try to find Jerry Martin, Garnet's son whom I believe must still live in Princeton. He would be approx 60 years old now. One thing that is really significant.... of John Calvin Meador's 14 children, only three lived into old age. My grandmother, Virginia from the frist family, and Blanche and Myrtle from the second family, lived into their 80's and 90's. All the rest died in middle age or younger. Thanks again, Robert "Moten, Sandra K" wrote: > > ----------------- > > > > William H. French Martin. > > > > William H. 1. Re: [WVMERCER] Senate Bill 90 - Allow us access to family graves
    2. DAVID R. CATHELL
    3. Hello Ruth, Although I am not a WV resident, I am one of many heirs to "the old homestead" in Mercer County, WV. On this property is a family cemetery up on the top of the hill above the house. The title for the property has been left for several generations now. It was just left to the heirs of my great grandfather's body. There must be 75, or more, heirs by now. The chances of clearing the title are slim to none. My father has been paying the taxes. I have been trying to keep track of it because I don't want to lose access to the cemetery. Daddy kept telling me that he thought that we would be given access even if for some reason we lost the property. I'm glad that you have made this bill known to me. Now I can show this information to my father and make sure that the family gets together and makes arrangements for the taxes to be paid in the future. Our property does not connect with any public roads. There is an access road through someone else's property. My Dad says that we have access rights. Can this person build across this access road and close off access to our property along with the family cemetery? I will be sure to notify my cousins who still live in WV and have them contact their representatives. Thanks again for your time and effort. 1. Re: [WVMERCER] Senate Bill 90 - Allow us access to family graves
    2. I, for one, would like to see a bill passed allowing any family member, decendant, etc. to have access to a loved one's grave for the purpose of just visiting, or as a genealogist researcher. I can see private property owners not wanting to see tons of people tramping across their land, but it could be done so that only a few at a time come. Even if you have to make a "date" to come to visit. And you must respect the current land owner's property and rights and not destroy his land. Thanks Dorothy Marcello
