I have been in touch with Courthouse and they say they check but from what I hear that place would be like looking for needle in haystack. They referred me to Charleston, Charleston says Welch, then Wech turned around and said Tazewell and so far 20 years later I am still searching. I know this man owned land in McDowell Co. and payed taxes on it. I don't understand why I can't find out where the land was. Census says Dix/Dick's Creek. His brother, William Collins owned & operated a gristmill on the Tug Fork and I know he lived near his brother ( family interview) They floated logs down river. William Collins was also a blacksmith, and primitive preacher. He married Mary Mullins first and Mary Ann Hatfield second. John W. married Lydia Toner first and Mary Roark second.
