I am looking for information about some folks who were in Welch, McDowell, West Virginia in 1920. The 1920 census lists Bert E. Downs age 41, his wife Marie (Howland) Downs age 40 and his mother-in-law, Anna (__) Howland age 73, along with their 3 children, Bertis, Eugene and Edna. He had a drug store in Welch. I have a couple of generations back on the Downs line, into Greenup County, KY, but am interested in finding out what I can on the Howlands (who are from New York state according to the 1920 census) as well as Bert's date and place of death and burial, their life in Welch (is there extant information on the drugstore?), and any information on descendants. The son, Eugene, apparently stayed in Welch (his residence at the time of death, 15 Aug 1989, was listed as Welch on the SSDI), and the son Bertis went to Virginia at some point; grandson Bertis, III was a pastor but I don't know what denomination or where he served.
