My wife's paternal grandfather, Robert Gordon BARRETT, was a Marshal (don't know whether it was town marshal or U. S. Marshal) in Iager (McDowell County, WV). He moved to War (McDowell County, WV) in 1924, so it would have been, probably between 1914 and 1924. Anyway, according to "family information," he was involved in a shoot-out in which at least one person was killed. It was after this incident that he decided that law enforcement was not for him.
