Hi to Bill Mele and All, I have recently heard different stories regarding obtaining records from the McDowell Co. WV Clerk of Courts and thought I would share; About 2 weeks ago I wrote a letter to the Clerk of Courts and asked for a copy of a 1909 marriage license application and I was shocked to receive a copy from the clerk within 3 days! I did give them the year that the marriage occured and only asked for one copy. The clerk was even nice enough to write me a handwritten note explaining they could not issue me a certified copy of the marriage because the marriage license was NEVER returned to the courthouse by a minister. I did send them a check for $3.00 with my request. Just thought that I would share. Thanks, Doug in Columbus, Ohio.
