The story is that when the fire happened that someone who lived close to the courthouse found the records lying outside around the courthouse and took them and stored them at her house and then she donated them to WVU. But, don't know any more about that. Anyway, I do know a lot of those old records are there in Morgantown. Good luck, hope all is well with you. Suzie Crump Coordinator Mason County WVGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmason/mason.htm ============= I was told that an archivist from WVU came to Mason County Courthouse and offered to take and organize many boxes of old and loose records. There was a misunderstanding...Mason County Court officials thought that they were being returned but they are now part of the archives at the WVU library in Morgantown. I believe that they were microfilmed by the LDS (in the 1950's?) and what is available to the public at WVU are the microfilms. ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
