Now I am really confused. I have Julia as being born in 1828, but you are telling me she is 20 in the 1860 census record. I don't see how that is possible since she married him in 1847. Their son, Joseph Jefferson Mayes, was born in 1852, so presumably he would have been living with them during that time and thus help with concluding Julia Eades and Julia White are the same person. Have you located them in that time frame? BTW, John H. Mayes is not my direct line. My line runs through his sister, Martha Jane and her husband Samuel Mayes (which I have very little info on).
