She would have married a Stephen Loomis. Some of her children may have been born mid-1840's in Meigs Co., OH. Her son, William Loomis was married and lived in Mason Co around 1866. Lydia and Stephen are a total brickwall for me. Thanks for any help. Dale Dale, Just checked all four volumes of The Roush Family in America, and no LOOMIS, or Lydia ROUSH (of the dates you specified) is listed in the indexes. Would suggest you write to the Mason County Clerk's office at Pt. Pleasant, for a copy of the 27 Dec 1866 marriage record of William E. LOOMIS and Louisa HUMPHREYS. That will give you the parents' names and the bride and groom's places of birth and residence. The place of birth may be another county, and will tell you where to continue your search. It would be advisable to also request any deeds and wills on the LOOMIS and HUMPHREYS families. If Stephen LOOMIS owned property in Mason County, there will be one or more deeds in his name. If he sold any property, there will be deeds to that effect, also. If he kept the property until his death, there will be a will, an appraisal, and/or letters of administration from the probate court, on file. Have you checked the 1850 Mason County census for information on your LOOMIS family? There are four entries in the catalog of Higginson Books, Salem, MA--genealogies of LOOMIS Families, all published between 1880 and 1926. You may email Higginson--request a catalog--at [email protected] No, there is no "o" in higginsn, above. And, no, I don't work for them. The above published genealogies, now being in the public domain, may also be available on ILL (Inter-Library Loan)--check with your local public library, to see if they will request it for you. Good luck, and Happy Hunting! Julie, endlessly sorting out dead relatives.....
