I can't recall the earliest date on births and deaths, but I have a certification from the Clerk's office on my husband's grandmother's birth, 22 Sep 1874; the earliest marriage is in 1806. The earliest tax records are very fragile, and not available for the general public to handle them. Does Pt. Pleasant Library have a genealogy dept? Yes--a small room with a modest collection of family histories in a hanging file; lots of books--a great help is the group of five books of Mason County Cemetery Inscriptions, by Violette Machir. > Bev
