My ancestors are from Mason, Jackson, and maybe Galia OH. How far back do the records at the courhouse.? Such as birth and death and tax lists. My husband once lived in Mason Co. and if I remember right, the courthouse had a fire at one time, because he had to mail to Charleston for a birth cert. Any help appreciated. Does Pt. Pleasant Library have a genealogy dept? >> Don't know about the Pt. Pleasant Library, but birth records at the Mason Co. Courthouse go back to the early 1800's. They're not complete, of course, but well organized. The marriage & death records are very well kept. Tax & land records I haven't checked yet. Except for one woman (who may have been having a bad day), everyone was very pleasant. Melinda
