    1. [WVMASON] Lydia LOOMIS Obituary
    2. Dale & Marilyn
    3. Could anyone tell me where I can look for an obituary on Lydia LOOMIS? I can only tell that she may have died between 1866 and 1880 and that she was living in Hartford in 1866 and probably died there. She was living with her son, William LOOMIS who owned a shoemaker shop in Hartford before becoming a M. E. minister in 1870. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Dale Nicoll

    1. Glovers in Va, W.V. and Gallia County, Oh
    2. Michael S. Beckley
    3. Samuel G. Glover was born around 1843 according to the 1850 Ohio census in Virginia. Some later censuses refer to the birthplace as West Virginia. My first assumption therefore is that he was born in Mason County, Va.(later W.V). In that 1850 Ohio census, he is listed in a household with either older brothers or uncles William and Henry Jackson Glover and I assume his younger siblings Albert and Mary. The family listed directly above this group on the microfilm page is that of Thomas and Nancy Glover, mid thirties. In the 1860 and 1870 Ohio censuses the only Glovers in Gallia County , Ohio are the households of Robert T. Glover and Jackson Glover. Can anyone tell me if Samuel G. Glover is in the 1860 or 1870 census rolls somewhere in W. V.(Mason County or elsewhere?) and where his family tree goes back in time? He reappears in 1880 Ohio census with his second wife Nancy Hazlett and several children, including twins John L. and Mary Glover, just born in Oct. 1879. Thanks, Mike Beckley at [email protected]

(They were from Chittenden Co., Westford, VT.) In about 1835, Daniel was killed in an accident and Eliza married second Jacob Hart in Meigs Co., OH. Buxton, Darius Varney 12 Sept 1830- 11 April 1890 came to Mason co 1870 built four-story mill and dam on 13 Mile Creek at Waterloo in 1872, the first dam built straight across the creek, it was soon washed away by the swift waters. 3. Hi, All, Apparently, that con-job outfit--Family Discovery--is still at it, and trying to sucker folks into paying them $60 for a list of free online genealogy resources. I just received their "hook" letter, and replied according to their "Unsubscribe" instructions--I never subscribed to them, in the first place. Just received a message that their "Unsub" email addy mailbox is full--must be lots of folks have gotten wise to their tactics--GOOD!!! Don't fall for their con job--they already have the law on their trail, and the CA Attorney General's office has shut 'em down once. 1. VIRUS SCARES
    2. PLEASE READ THIS AS A ONE TIME PRECAUTIONARY NOTICE VIRUS DISCUSSIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE MATERIAL ON OUR LIST MASON CO. LIST ADMINISTRATOR: <[email protected]>glenn Normally virus discussion is "off-topic" for a genealogy list but I'm making an exception for this announcement. Please do NOT respond to the list about this message but please read it. RootsWeb lists are virus-free and you won't receive any viruses through the lists. However, there is a virus going around currently called Bad Trans that can "trick" you into thinking it is coming from a list. A list subscriber has informed me that at least one subscriber to [insert list name here] is or was infected by this virus. Here is how it works so that you can recognize it and avoid it. A list subscriber posts a message to the list and the message is then sent out to everyone on that list (no viruses involved). Someone who is a list subscriber is already infected with the virus (their computer is that is). When the list message arrives in that infected person's inbox the virus works by sending a reply to the person whose address is in the FROM line of the message (i.e. the list poster). The Bad Trans virus works in this manner and it tricks the recipient into thinking that the list is involved when it is only the means by which the poster's address arrived on the infected person's computer--the virus never came through the list. The reply with the list message quoted and the attachment with the virus included is then sent to the original poster. That is why so many folks are fooled into opening the attachment. They think it is ia legitimate response to their query. Anyone who clicked on the attachment would have gotten a message saying that the file was corrupted but that is the virus sending that message, and seeing that message indicates that your computer *has* been infected with the virus. If you think you might be infected with this virus please obtain updated anti virus software and scan and clean your system. BE VERY CAUTIOUS ABOUT: Opening mail from any address you don't know!
