    1. [WVMASON] County Marriage records
    2. Mary L. Cervantes
    3. While checking the marriage records of possible family members in both Mason and Cabell counties on the West Virginia Vital Research records site, I have noticed 2 or 3 marriage licenses with the note "Don't Publish" after the County Clerk's signature and/or at the top of the page. Since the latest record where I found this note had an unsigned "Minister's Record or Endorsement" at the bottom of the Marriage License, it appears that the marriage never took place or if it did, the minister never "returned" the record. This record was dated 1896. Could someone please confirm or explain the meaning of "Don't publish" on these records? Thanks for any information on this issue.
