I am trying to find documentation by someone other than John Stuart, historian of the battle & himself a participant. It is generally thought that ___ Clay is actually William Mitchell Clay. I have not found him listed on any rosters of the day. David, Ezekiel, & Mitchell Clay are listed as participants of the historic Battle of Point Pleasant. Does Gallia County have an index for death certificates? This man was still alive during 1920 census and by the Clay Chapel inventory, at least, there is no date of death on his tombstone? He is my wife's 2nd great grandfather and I'd like to obtain both his date of death and any info on his death certificate regarding his mother's maiden name. He was born c. 1845 to Thomas and Nancy Glover, probably in Kanawha County, Va. and was a Civil War veteran in an Ohio Infantry Regiment from Gallipolis. In 1837 Nancy Bocock married Thomas Glover in Bedford County, W.V., according to L.D.S. site. In subsequent Va/WV censuses only one Thomas and Nancy Glover appear to exist. They are in Kanawha County in 1840 and 1860, Gallia County, Ohio in 1850, and Mason County, W.V. in 1870. Their son Samuel G. Glover is with them in 1850 and 1860 censuses and in his own household in Putnam County, W.V. in 1870 and in Gallia County, Ohio from 1880 through 1920. Thomas and Nancy's other children include William, Henry JACKSON, and Albert. Can anyone tell me where Thomas was in 1830 or who his parents were? Ditto for Nancy Bocock?
