You are so correct on this theory. I have found mine all over the country. Even some of the Hughes. They came to IN from W.Va. and some returned back to W.Va.. Causing some of us to really hunt for them. My grandfather Hughes and his twin, plus some of their sisters. Have another line of Hughes that I can not find other than VA. I have noticed that more than several people are looking for their ancestry in the same states that I am searching. Was there a route that the majority of immigrants took in search of a homestead? I notice (not in this specific order) that alot are looking in Kentucky, Tennessee,West/VA / VA, Ohio, Illinois and some Indiana. It seems to me Ilinois might be the last stop before spreading west, like Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma. If someone has already figured this out I wish you'd let me know. Many thanks Tom Hughes

I am searching for the Hughes line that has: * Thomas Hughes Sr. b. abt. 1755 in Donegal County Ireland. * Abraham Hughes b. abt. August 26, 1801 * William K. Hughes b. abt. 1830 (not sure what the K stands for. It could be listed as William Katon, or Keaton or some variation). These are only three of a long list. Thanks so much Tom Hughes Oklahoma [email protected]
My 3rd GGrandfather was Griffin B. Reynolds, born 1800 in Culpepper VA, and died in 1888. He married Elizabeth (Betsy) Black. I don't know if he was previously married. I know Betsy was a widow and had children by Mr. Black. Griffin had 4 children, (1) John David Reynolds, born 11/29/1832 in Cabell Co., VA (now WV). He married Cassie Ann Chapman. (2) Elizabeth born 1830 (3) Nancy born 1831 (4) Hardin born 1835. I have a copy of a deed where John Renals of Cabell Co. State of VA deeded Griffin Reynolds property November 9th, 1822. I have heard Griffin was the son of John Reynolds and Miriam. I have seen where John and Miriam VanBibber Reynolds had children marrying in Kanawha County VA/WV in the 1811-1840 Marriage Records. The names were: Alethea, Abigail, Vernon M. and John Reynolds. This John Reynolds married a Nancy Vinyard 4/19/1838. I assume this is a totally different family. My John had his 1st child (to my knowledge) Griffin in 1800. I don't know if anyone on the list has any information on this family, but I would appreciate any information. I have worked on genealogy for 35 yrs, just can't find documentation of Griffin's parents, since this deed didn't specify "my son". Thanks Bertie Casey
Among my paper work I have come across an application for a U.S. Social Security number for Ira Willard Morris of Owens, W.Va. DOB...12-31-1909. He was employed at Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Co. Wife's name Elizabeth Blake. If related contact me.

Hello Everybody, I probably have asked this before, but I still need information. Looking for information on Jessie CHAFFIN, my Great Grandmother. If someone could look in the 1900 Mason County census for her, I would be grateful. I am looking for information on her parents and siblings. I received her marriage license and it does not list her parents, but it does say she was born in Mason County and resided in Mason County. She was between 10-12 during the census of 1900. Thanks for any help, Gary Coleman
Good Afternoon Everyone, Could someone do a marriage lookup for me? I need the marriage date for Homer FELLURE and Edna HOOTON. I believe they married sometime before 1912. If possible could I get the Volume number and page number. I'm planning a trip to the courthouse in the near future and would like to be able to quicken their search, plus have the info for my records. Thanks in advance, Gary Coleman

Will the person who was seeking the parents of Lawrence Jordan, son of Lizzie Pearson, please contact me. I've finally found the answer to Lizzie's identity. The 1910 census has him as the grandson of Catherine Pearson. She's the wife of James W. Pearson son of Berryman. Catherine's maiden name was Sheline. James and Catehrine had da Elizabeth b. 1872. She must be the Lizzie you've been seeking. Merry Anne

I believe Jessie Plants married Mary Perry in 1903. Mary was the daughter of my 2nd great grand uncle, Charles Edward Perry, and his wife, Margaret Morrow. I found Jessie and Mary on the 1910 census with daughter Murly 5, and an unnamed son who was 1 month old. Mary was only 23, but she had given birth to 6 children with 2 still living (she was probably married at age 16 or 17). Minnie E. Perry, Jessie's sister-in-law, was living with them. Jessie and Mary were living next door to my g-g-grandparents, Henry T. Perry and McClelland C. Harmon. Henry was Charles Edward Perry's brother. Does anyone have any information on Jessie and Mary? I'm looking for their marriage, the names of all of their children and dates, Jessie's parents' names, etc. Cynthia

Dear Dale, The Point Pleasant Register was in business at the time of both of these deaths. The Mason County Library has some microfilms of the old papers and may have them from those dates. When I was there in September, I found it fascinating to read some of them, but did not have enough time to get ALL of the information I wanted. Also, the Clerk of Courts office has records for those time frames also.
