I just found this on the FamilySearch.org IGI List. This shows the Blütner spelling and says she was born in Mason WV in 1858 instead of 1855 which I have from family information. <http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=/eng/search/ancestorsearchresults.asp> I have never searched that list before. The first time I went to FamilySearch.org, I think I used a link that went direct to the Record Search and bookmarked that. I found the link to search this looking for their How-To list for info about find records in Germany. I know that the first child (my grandmother) was baptized in a German speaking church, which I am guessing was Lutheran. Do any of you have access to records that might show a birth record more information that might list the name of her parents? Thank you! My Agnes Blaetner brick wall just transformed into brick veneer on steel reinforced concrete...I wasted a half tank of gas today driving down to the Cincinnati Library. An 1884 Courthouse fire destroyed a lot of record, including what I was hoping to find to end this Agnes Blaetner mystery. The next step is looking for baptism and other church records. A letter with a check for a small donation and a request for help to the Hamilton County Genealogical Society may help. Having been a list administrator a few years ago using the Mailman software the Rootsweb uses for these lists, I know there is an easy fix that Rootsweb's list Adman can use (all it take is one check mark removed from one box and added to another) to reverse the setting. If a lot of frequent list users contacts the Admin requesting the change, they probably will change it. That change will also put an end to list members sometimes receiving 2 copies of replied to messages that they posted. I will look around on the list site to see if I can find the correct address to send those requests to and post them to these three lists, and I may volunteer to help with list Admin chores. When I was looking through the list of lists, I think I saw some that they needed help with. I want to thank everyone that replied to my original post on this thread. I have received several leads that has resulted in information with good possibilities. As a result of those leads, I found a family of 8 Blattner's on a 4 June 1839 Castle Garden passenger list with 3 adults - obviously a mother and father both age 39 and Theresia age 25 and 5 children. 7 of the family appear in the 1840 US Census in New York City minus the female of Theresia's age. I have not been able to find any references to Theresia Blattner until the Mason WV Census records referring to the Acker/Aker family with Theresia and daughter Agnes. With your help I also found a Death Certificate for Agnes that shows her birth to be in Cincinnati OH instead of Louisville KY (which family info suggests). I will drive to Cincinnati Public Library sometime in the next couple weeks to see if I can find a birth record. At this point, based on the info that you have helped me find, I am wondering if maybe Agnes (and brother Edward) were born to Theresia out of wedlock before she married Frederick Acker/Aker...so farm I have not seen anything suggesting that Theresia was married to a Blaetner or Blattner. If I can find the birth record, maybe it will solve this big puzzle. If I can't find anything, I will have to live with these assumptions and document them as such, hoping to find something sometime in the future. Being a rookie genealogist, I think I made a pretty good decision picking this difficult Agnes Blaetner issue to work on first. I have two more hurdles to clear that may also be fun, or not...my name is Marshall. I know that my Marshall ancestors came from Virginia in the same time frame as Chief Justice John Marshall, and that there are William Marshall's in my family and his. I have been hearing other family members saying we are related for as far back as I can remember (I am 58). Then, I will start on my mother's family, who are Kennedy's. That, I am sure, is going to be a really big puzzle to figure out... I started this family tree project back in the 1990s when there was only family info and ridiculously high priced CDs from Family Tree Maker. I gave up after I got all of the family info compiled in one place. After seeing a couple magazines at the local store a few months ago, I realized how much info is freely (or not free) available now, and started again on 4 August 2009. Thanks again for your help! I will probably be back asking for more... Dave Dave Marshall wrote: > I need some help finding information about my Great Grandmother Agnes > Blaetner and her parents.
