Suzie Crump Coordinator Mason County WVGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmason/mason.htm ============= I was told that an archivist from WVU came to Mason County Courthouse and offered to take and organize many boxes of old and loose records. There was a misunderstanding...Mason County Court officials thought that they were being returned but they are now part of the archives at the WVU library in Morgantown. I believe that they were microfilmed by the LDS (in the 1950's?) and what is available to the public at WVU are the microfilms. ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

    2. Wow Donzella. You are the expert on all this! Let me know if you see anything on the Morrows - James Morrow and Olive Jane Hill. I'm trying to find at least James' parents. He was born in 1801 in Virginia. Where exactly I don't know. Thanks! 1. [WVMASON] Walker Walker & Malinda Morrow Walker
    2. Donzella Mullen
    3. Hi Mary Lee, Sorry to say that I have not had any luck locating the parents of Walker Walker and Malinda Morrow. I have thought about the names of Thomas and James as being the father of Walker Walker and even read the bio of Dr. Thomas Walker who did a lot of exploring throughout Virginia and Kentucky in the late 1700's. But Dr. Walker lived in northern Virginia and stayed there except when traveling - he was very interesting. He also had a son Thomas who could ?? be a possibility but very little info is available on him and from what I have found he also stayed in northern Virginia. I thought I had a lead when I found someone else looking for info on William Walker Walker and wife Malinda Morrow with son Robert F. The lady that was looking said she also hit a brick wall on their parents. She also said it was family history that his name was William Walker Walker. I sent her the info on the rest of the children of Walker Walker. I checked Ancestry's census for 1810 and found a Elverton Walker Kanawha County, Cabin Creek District and a Randolph Walker Kanawha County, Kanawha District. Both had male children under 10 years of age. I had been leaning toward Randolph Walker because he was in Kanawha Co., in 1810 and in 1820 he was in Mason County and in 1830 he disappeared and Walker Walker was listed with family in Mason County. I still think Elmore Walker of Gallia County could be Walker Walker's brother, he was from Virginia. His daughter Margaret Walker married Thomas Walker and they had a son named Elmore. Margaret and Thomas's son Elmore was named for her father, I guess. Margaret and Thomas could be first cousins or maybe not, I just don't know. I was hoping you could find out who Elmore Walker's parents were from a death certificate or something. Elmore Walker died between 1850 and 1860 - same period that Walker Walker died. Another avenue would be "land records" in Mason County. But I live in Florida and don't think I will ever get back to Point Pleasant to check out the land records. All of the male children had land with no mortgage that I can find and they all lived right next to one another according to the census. Sorry this is so long, got carried away. Donzella

    1. Re: [WVMASON] Malinda Morrow Walker & MORROW of Mason Co
    2. Mary Lee: I'm Karin in Texas. I grew up in WV - and all my relatives were there or nearby. I'm related to many Morrows in Mason Co and I see you're inquiring about a Malinda Morrow Walker. I haven't seen her name in my records but she may be a daughter of my ancestor's sibling. What are your dates? I go back to John Tyler Morrow (dob 16 Mar 1841) and his wife, Nancy Frances Patterson. John and Nancy had 9 children including their 2nd child -- Mary M. Morrow. Maybe that stood for Malinda? Or maybe that's for Margaret. Maybe she later had a daughter. Or, perhaps one of his 7 brothers and sisters had a Malinda or a descendant named Malinda Morrow. Just trying to give you some more clues! If anyone has any information about the Morrow Family of Mason Co, I would love to know. I'm trying to get past James Morrow dob 1801) and his wife, Olive Jane Hill Morrow (1800.) They were the parents of John Tyler Morrow & William, James, Gideon, Lindsey, Robert, Margaret, James and Henry C. I've heard Olive Jane HIll was born in either New York or PA. Thanks! 3. Hi Nancy, I found a Fannie Cremeans d. March 3, 1925 in Roane County, Spencer District WV. Her father was B. H. Holly. Is this the one you are looking for? On the death certificate it says she is buried in the Fairview Cemetery and the Vandale Undertaking Co. did the burial in Spencer. She was in the State Hospital for tuberculosis from September 26, 1921 to March 3, 1925. If this is the one you are looking for, there would be no records in Mason County. Hope this helps. Donzella

    3. Donzella Mullen, Have you found any new information about Walker Walker and Malinda Morrow Walker? I still haven't been able to find parents for either. Do you know if there was a James or Thomas Walker in the 1810 Mason County census? Since their two eldest sons were named James and Thomas I thought this might be a clue. Mary Lee

    3. Nancy, have you checked Cabell County and the surrounding counties? Or have you checked Gallia County? If the person you are looking for was visiting another county it would be listed in that county. Just a thought. Who are you looking for, I would be glad to do some looking for you. Donzella
