Ken I checked my McGuire files and I do have a Garnet MAGUIRE who married Ira Lewis. Garnet was the daughter of Lafayette and Cordelia Davis Maguire. Lafayette and my great-grandfather John B. Maguire were brothers. Nial Wilson is the son of John Brough and Mary Luana Spires. Any info that you would have on Garnet would be deeply appreciated. All I have on her and Ira are birth dates and places born. As for Margaret Stewart, she was born in 1899. I do have a William Stewart born in 1855 to John B. and Elizabeth Van Meter. I do not have any info on William at this time other than born 1855 in Mason Co., Virginia. I know Ken, I have been to Meigs several times and have had ppl search for me but I can find no marriage for them. My dad swore they were married at Meigs Court House. Margaret Mae was married once before to Samuel Martin who died. Nial Wilson McGuire is a little harder because I have found his name spelled so many different ways....either Neil or last name of Maguire. Anyway, back to Margaret Stewart, her father was George Thomas Stewart and her mother was Malissa Jane Chaffin. Margaret was born in Mason Co., and Nial was born in Meigs Co. Thanks for looking for me. A second set of eyes never hurt. I have checked WVU and nothing is listed on line. You have to go and read the microfilm there, and for me that's not possable. Thank you. there was a great show today on the Stewart clan and others from Scotland,England, describing how the Highlanders wound up in USA starting in 1763.? The land owners in those areas treated the Scots very badly. They left their homes came to usa.....?? Queen Victoria spoke of her Stewart Heritage....saying that Scotland was a beautiful place.?? Too bad so many were rousted from their homes.?? I guess they came here hopeful for a better life, and stayed, now if we could just find them................patti a mighty fortress is our God... -----Original Message----- From: Mamapapalewis@aol.com To: WVMASON@rootsweb.com Sent: Sat, 21 Jun 2008 12:21 pm Subject: [WVMASON] Joseph Stewart family 1800's I'm looking for anyone who may have any information on Joseph Stewart, a **************Gas prices getting you down? well all I know is If? we can not find them, they had to be somewhere, or? we would not be here..lol patti a mighty fortress is our God...
I am not sure what part of Virginia your Stewart ancestors lived, but if they lived close to the Ohio River, some went over into Ohio to get married. But I did want to share this info with you because I did find some of my Stewart family married in either Meigs Co or Gallia Co. The Meigs Co. Historical Society has books listing some WVA marriages. I have been trying to find the marriage of my grandparents, Nial Wilson McGuire and Margaret Mae Stewart, without much luck. This past April I went to Ohio and visited the Historical Society in Meigs and I know that they provided me books with some WVA Marriages. Don't remember for sure the dates but it might be worth your while to contact them. email addy: meigscohistorical@verizon.net phone: 740-992-3810 Sharon McGuire mire7001@comcast.net

a mighty fortress is our God... -after speaking with a cousin, she said that John Rairden/rarden,rariden,? was married several times.?? His son my ggggrandad? william? was married to cecelia blackburn.?? I am in a quandry to find John.? It is my understanding that many Scots, and Irish came over in the years surrounding 1763 onward due to the British oppression of Gaelic people.? I guess that John marrying so many times, explains the sudden influx of Rairdens in the area. But gee did they have divorce then, or did all his wives pass away... ? ? One hard thing to search for has been Cecelia Blackburn, and Hannah Waugh.. ? This is getting to sound like an alien planted them here...lol? patti?
