    1. Groska/Groske/Groshe/Grosha - Goetze?

    3. Family stories have it that my great great grandmaother was Rosine Helene GROSKA. She married Louis (Ludewig) KETTLER, date & place unknown, but probably 1858-60 at Boggs Run. Louis emigrated from Cammerborn, Hanover ca. 1855; she was from Prussia. They were at Boggs Run (as Louis and Salina KITTLER) in the 1860 census. I am beginning to wonder if we have the wrong surname for her. First, Groska is a very uncommon surname. Second, another Kettler (Charles Friederich Wilhelm, b. Apr 20, 1830, Cammerborn, Hanover, GE), who was probably a cousin of Louis from Cammerborn, married Augusta GOETZE, Sept. 30, 1854 in Wheeling. Augusta Goetze's brother, William Goetze, witnessed Ludewig/Louis's application for citizenship in 1860. I wonder if Rosine Helene's surname was Goetze, not Groska (the German pronunciations are somewhat similar). Does anyone have any information of any people with the surnames Groska or Goetze? Perhaps this is a far-fetched idea, but I am running out of ways of finding out more about her! --Mary Ann Kettler Mulford
