As the Pleasant Ridge researchers know, there is some question as to the parents of Ann Mason w/o Job Mason. A few months ago, I raised this question again outside of the list. Most replies were in the Ruckman camp even though the Marshall County marriage record (1845) states clearly Ann Richmond. One of the arguments used was that the "Fish Funeral Home" record at the Moundsville library listed Ann Ruckman as the mother of Jacob Giles Mason. He died about 1945? I was still,and remain, unconvinced, and while I had a few extra seconds today, I checked said record. Yes, the F.F.H. record lists Ann Ruckman as the mother, but it also lists the father as Jake Mason. Jacob Giles Mason had a grandfather Jacob Mason and an uncle Jacob Mason, but his father was Job Mason. It may,at some point, be proven that Ann was a Ruckman, and not a Richmond, but I'm still going with a county marriage record over a obviously flawed funeral home record written ~ 50 years after her death.Note: I am descended from Job and Ann R/R Mason through a sister of Jacob Giles Mason, Hannah Mason Robinson.
