I am looking for information on my family. Believed to have originally been Hind. Variations of the name include HINDS [My current} HIND / HINES / HYNES / HYND, etc. My direct ancestory was in Beaver County, PA after the Revolution, but may have been descendent from Chester, PA, -- Albemarle, Augusta Counties in VA. Family members migrated through VA, PA, KY, TN, AL, AR, IN. Early names were James, William, Thomas, John, Samuel. At Beaver County, PA (Sewickley and N. Sewickley) John Hind - Revolutionary War [fifer] John, jr., George, Peter, and Jacob. Also Sampson and others. Related families included PIERSOL and OLDHAM. Descendents were known to have moved to Jennings (and surrounding) Counties, IN in the 1830/40 time frame. Included John, jr., Sampson (at least one with that name.), My great great grandfather Jason (also a John) who moved with his family into North Western Indiana. His wife Catherine (Oldham) and some Children are burried in Hemphill Cemetery. Jason died in Remington, IN.
