I remember her well. Welcome was a little settlement about where Kent is now. It once had a train station, Post Office, and a boat landing. She married Samuel Gatts Burton, had 8 children, as Peggy described. Samuel drove about the countryside and collected produce and crafts to sell at the store at Welcome, and to take to Wheeling to sell at his stall at the Wheeling Market. He would take the train and commute to the stall. When he had a large shipment, he would send it by boat.
