She was married on Oct. 10, 1883, in WV, to Samuel Gatts Burton, son of James N. and Lavina Gatts. Samuel Gatts Burton was born May 10, 1858, and died on July 11, 1939. James N. Burton was born on Aug. 21, 1829. 1880 WETZEL CO., WV Census: At the time of the 1880 Wetzel County, West Virginia, Census, Emily (Emma) was living in the William John Baker household, as a "boarder," 22 years old. Her older sister Louisa had married William John Baker, and they had a 4 year old daughter, Maggie E. Baker, at the time. Louisa and Emily's brother Samuel was also in the household. He was a 44- year- old, "marrie laborer" (married?) Emily married SAMUEL GATTS BURTON, on October 10, 1883, in West Virginia. Eight children were born of their union and seven were still living in these areas as of 1960: 1) RACHEL L. BURTON, in College Park, Maryland; 2) OSCAR BURTON, in Bridgeport, Ohio; 3) ETHEL (BURTON) FRANKLIN, in Belmont, Ohio; 4) MARION BURTON, in Silver Springs, Maryland; 5) WILLIAM NORMAN BURTON, in Follansbee, West Virginia (d. 5 Apr 1977); 6) T.
