Call ahead to verify. They sell a kit for researchers $10.00 - check the web site for details.The maps included were very good. I did not call ahead to get times when a researcher was in. You need to do that. Many early Court House records were discarded. Many individuals and groups have tried to compile information from a variety of other sources. I didn't know who I was looking for so did not visit the Court House to look at land records. I spent several hours at the Citizens Library. The Genealogical Society of Southwestern Pennsyvlania Reserach materials are housed there. The Library has a copy machine - coin operated or you can discuss with information folks and get access to a key if you plan to copy alot of documents. Everyone was very pleasant. The library has Pedigree Charts, a card file of other researachers, and files dedicated to information requested and received on surnames. I found interesting stuff in all three. The space is small compared to others I have visited, but they have a large quantity of books and reference materials. They have a booklet on the table to guide you through some of the main publications depending on what you are reseraching. You may want to contact them in advance about what times volunteers are there. I was alone the entire time. The research librarian for the library proper assisted me with finding a phone number for an author and publisher. Can you believe it, the author was still alive and copies of the book still available. A first for me in my short time involved with this endeavor. One Word of Caution: The parking lot has meters. I kept going out but ended up with a ticket as I was trying to finish up to go catch a plane. The city made it very simple to pay them, there is a box on the street at the edge of the parking lot to put your fine in the designated envelope. A little weird, but at least accommodating. I wish I had three days to spend there but ......
