Here is a third opinion about Lois' book. I have never been in Sherrard but since reading Lois' book I feel like I know it quite well. My McCombs family is listed in 1850 Marshall Cty census along with six other McCombs families but I haven't been able to make a connection as yet. Also have a professional photograph which looks just like the one Lois has on page 254 but that Sarah Morgan McCombs Pelley is not mine but sure looks the person in my photograph. Also have a professional photograph with Grandmother Sherrard on the back in one hand writing and Stella Barnet in another handwriting and have been unable to make a connection here either. Lois' book has several possiblities for match ups for me, but alas, so far none.
