Just wanted to let you gen friends know about an auction that is taking place in Wheeling WV on the 31st of May. For those of you who do not know O.O. Brown he was a avid historian for the Weztel/Tyler Area. I spent 6 months in WV last year and stumbled upon this find. I went to school with is grandson and offered my assistance to his mom to help her sort and pack up O.O.'s house. What I didn't know was I was stepping into a genealogist dream! Four full stories of historical artifacts from civil war cannon balls, Indian artifacts, Wetzel county Democrat from 1878 to 1930, a cane that prisoners of Andersonville had scratched their names into, river boat artifacts, bells, pictures, etc. and books, on WV, Ohio, River boats, battles, some copyrighted in the 1800's. What is so fascinating is he labeled everything! You turn the arrow heads over and it will tell you when and where they were found on Elk Fork! Typed on a very old typewriter. I found pictures of the Packet boats that ran from PC are to Wheeling that my 94 year old neighbor rode and wanted a pic of. I noted everything that pertained to my genealogy search, copied pictures, I was in heaven. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, none of the grand kids are interested in this! So they are auctioning it off after a year of debating. It will be done in two auctions since there is so much stuff. I have copied the link to the web page for those who want to peek at some of the pictures. Bad thing is I am stuck in AZ until July so I won't get to attend, but if any of you do please say hello to Ethel for me. I told her I would put the word out to my genealogy friends in hopes that some of this will find homes that appreciate it as much as he did. http://www.frioauction.com/auctiondetails.asp?mode=View&AuctionID=238&direction= -- Surnames researching, Westbrooks, Hammel, Hawkins, Cook, Bauers, Snodgrass, Garrison, Tate, Mason, Robbins, Hite, Tyler
