All clues are leading me to believe that this Joseph W. Chambers is my great grandfather. In the 1870 census, Joseph is the son of a Samuel and Lucy Chambers and he is 19 years old, which would match what little info I have for him. Most of my grandmother's siblings carry on the given names of this family...Sam, Lucy, Mary, Jospeh....etc. My grandmother was born in Marshall County and I've gone to the court house to retrieve their birth records, and it seems they moved quite a bit but stayed in the general areas of Moundsville, Cameron, Dallas Pike, and around Wheeling. If this Joseph is who I'm thinking he is, then he ended up in Belmont County, Ohio where he and his wife Annie are buried. I have the names of the children of this union, but can't seem to definitely attach this Joseph W. to anyone except by matching birthdates on a census, having a general idea of his locality origin and just having ! an old gut feeling.
