Hi everyone, I am looking for information on a Harriet Manning who married Oliver Archer in 1836. However, his name could possible be Archer Oliver. I believe Harriet manning is the daughter of Benjamin Manning, Jr. and his first wife. Also, Benjamin Jrs. son was also a Benjamin. The son married a Nancy who later married Jacob Riggle after Benjamin died. Any information on this family would be certainly appreciated. I would like to know who Nancy was and who Benjamins mother was. Benjamin died March 1847. Frank Manning fmanning@erols.com <mailto:fmanning@erols.com> Vernon, CT
Could someone give me the address for Highland Cemetery outside, or near Cameron. I have a relative buried there and they can't seem to find a death record at the courthouse. I thought I might send for copies of his burial records. Thanks, Pam
Just wanted to let you gen friends know about an auction that is taking place in Wheeling WV on the 31st of May. For those of you who do not know O.O. Brown he was a avid historian for the Weztel/Tyler Area. I spent 6 months in WV last year and stumbled upon this find. I went to school with is grandson and offered my assistance to his mom to help her sort and pack up O.O.'s house. What I didn't know was I was stepping into a genealogist dream! Four full stories of historical artifacts from civil war cannon balls, Indian artifacts, Wetzel county Democrat from 1878 to 1930, a cane that prisoners of Andersonville had scratched their names into, river boat artifacts, bells, pictures, etc. and books, on WV, Ohio, River boats, battles, some copyrighted in the 1800's. What is so fascinating is he labeled everything! You turn the arrow heads over and it will tell you when and where they were found on Elk Fork! Typed on a very old typewriter. I found pictures of the Packet boats that ran from PC are to Wheeling that my 94 year old neighbor rode and wanted a pic of. I noted everything that pertained to my genealogy search, copied pictures, I was in heaven. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, none of the grand kids are interested in this! So they are auctioning it off after a year of debating. It will be done in two auctions since there is so much stuff. I have copied the link to the web page for those who want to peek at some of the pictures. Bad thing is I am stuck in AZ until July so I won't get to attend, but if any of you do please say hello to Ethel for me. I told her I would put the word out to my genealogy friends in hopes that some of this will find homes that appreciate it as much as he did. http://www.frioauction.com/auctiondetails.asp?mode=View&AuctionID=238&direction= -- Surnames researching, Westbrooks, Hammel, Hawkins, Cook, Bauers, Snodgrass, Garrison, Tate, Mason, Robbins, Hite, Tyler
Hi Fellow Relative Hunters, Does anyone know of a reputable company in the Wheeling/Steubenville area that restores old pictures? I have a rather large oval shaped charcoal/crayon drawing of my great-grandparents that has a tear in the top. As this is the only known picture, I would like to preserve it. Any suggestions? Thanks! Susie

Surnames: CHAMBERS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AEC.2ACE/574 Message Board Post: One of the histories of Fayette County(See attachment), PA lists Edward Chambers as a Methodist. He is listed in Bullskin Twp. in the 1790 Census and Washington Twp in 1810. His sons Asa and Edward lived for a time in Ohio County(now Marshall County, WV), VA. Asa returned to Fayette County in the Perryopolis area. My ggg grandfather is Josiah Chambers. Josiah died in 1835 at Cameron, Marshall County, VA(WV). His wife , Sarah died in 1855. Josiah may be a brother of Edward, Sr. I need early Methodist Church Records to see any family listing for Edward, Josiah, Asa, Adam, John, etc. in Jefferson or Washington Townships in Fayette County, PA. Have any of my cousin researchers found these church records. I have also noted three origins of early Chambers settlers in Ohio/Marshall County namely New Jersey, Ohio, and PA. These were on Census data which are sometimes unreliable. Later generations reported other origins of their parents.

I wrote to <inquire@nara.gov> to find out the cost of ordering paper copies of the Civil War documents. I received this back from them: Hello, The current cost for military service records is $17.00. Pension files have gone up as well: $37.00 for the complete file, or $14.75 for a pension documents packet (a selection of documents from the file). The cost has really gone up. I use to order copies for just $10.00 and would receive quite a lot. Roberta Iiames
