I have more info on Samuel McCreary of Hillsville, Mahoning Twp., Lawrence Co., PA. Don't forget this is only miles from Beaver Co., PA and from Mahoning Co., OH. His obit says: Samuel McCreary, one of Lawrence counties oldest citizens peacefully passed away at his home Nove. 23 (1893). He was respected and honored by all who knew him, and was one of Lawrence counties old land marks, passing his 83rd year the 10th of last Sept. (Born 09/10/1810) His death is a loss to the whole community. He was the eldest of a family of nine children, three of which survive him. He leaves one daughter, married, amd a widow (Lovina). I beleive he was once married to an Anna. And I believe, now, that Lovina was born in OH. The obit does not mention any sons. Can anyone help me place Samuel with his family? Hello,While reading your web page a reference was made to Francis Beresford. Also a book titled "Beresford of Beresford"by Reverend William Beresford. My grandmother was a Beresford and that book is mentioned as a good reference. Would it be possible to learn more about Francis Beresford ,Francis Cotton and the book. I'm familiar with West Virginia,I was raised in a small town in Penna.called Confluence, it is 30 miles east of Uniontown,Pa. I am willing to pay for any costs that may be incurred and I would dearly love to buy a copy of the book. Thank You, Edith Waltman My e mail address is royie@bellsouth.net
Hello Everyone, Thank you so very much for the cards, e-mails, and communications with my family and with my best friend Linda Fluharty concerning my well being and progress. I am overwhelmed with your concern, prayers, juice and best wishes for my speedy"?" recovery. Maybe someday I shall be able to repay you for your kindnesses. As most of you know, I fractured my right femur in two places turning over in bed on Sunday, May 26. One was a diagonal fracture about three inches above the foot of the femur where it connects into the knee, and the second fracture (which I think was done a few days earlier) is a T-Bone fracture through the foot of the femur in the knee. Surgery was done on the 28th of May (no more metal detectors for me at the airports) and I was put into 15 pounds "bucks" traction attached to the metal rod completely through the knee--all of which--including 30 "hog ring" clamps-- were removed on June 11. I have now been transferred to a rehab facility ("looney bin" because I am immediately next to the dementia ward and then the alsheimers unit) for rehab to teach me how to put all my weight on my left leg as it is going to be about 6 or months before the right leg can have any weight. I need to learn to swivel to the potty chair and into the wheel chair. I have a new heavy duty walker, heavy duty wheel chair, and an electric bed that makes a chair for me to get up with and trapeze bars etc. I am now at: Carlisle Bowling Room 22 Manor on the Green 324 Wilder Blvd. Daytona Beach, FL 32114 I have applied to Southern Bell for a telephone line and they tell me it will be June 26 before one can be installed and then I will be able to be on line. Best wishes for all of you and thanks for everything. Carlisle Bowling
I'm helping a neighbor here in Houston, TX trace her family. Her mother was an ANGUISH and I saw an article in the History of Marshall County on William Anguish. Is anyone researching the ANGUISH family? Would like to contact them. You may email me privately.

My wife says that the only reason I have had so much success tracing my ancestors is because all the information I got off Your USGen Web site. I try to tell her its because of my great skills then she points out all the information I can get with a click. To add insult to injury She points out that is was a direct result of Your WV War Medals site that I was able to collect my Great-Grandfathers Civil War Medal. Anyone out there have some kind of index to 1910 census? Helping a friend and just found her great grands in 1920, need to go backwards now. Contact me off list. I want to say that I do not know what the circumstances are on this criticism, but I have seen only one other Genealogy site that even comes close to the sites that Linda hosts. She has always been as nice and very helpful in anything I have asked of her or the list. Bravo, Linda!! Martha Cross Sargent
Without the info and Linda's personal help, I would not have found out so much about my husbands EVANS lineage. It was a brick wall until I first happened upon the Marshall pages. Linda was also the final catalyst in my decision to take over the Burlington County, NJ site 2 years ago and I have strived to be as inclusive and informative as she. I guess you'd say, my gensite mentor. I haven't come close, but, I am always inspired by the info that is on Marshall Co. I agree that many of the sites out there are less than helpful. Many with just genlinks and queries pages. Linda, God Bless. I certainly agree with Vern's observation and also with all who have written in support of the incredible job Linda does. And "Incredible" hardly covers it!!! And if you have had direct contact with Linda, you also know what a generous spirited person she is, how energetic she is, and how responsive she is to inquiries. Linda, we would be "nowhere" without you. There isn't a list or Web Pages that can compare to ours! Thanks! Maureen
Dear friends, I cannot imagine anyone with so little to do that they feel like criticizing Linda Fluharty. She does an unbelievable job with the Marshall County website, as well as all her other webpages. She does it all for free and tries her best to be accurate. If there are minor errors, and you mention them tactfully, she will go out of her way to make a correction. I surely do not know of ANYONE else who spends so much time, and has such interest in her subjects, as Linda. We all owe her a TREMENDOUS debt of gratitude. Lay off her! Elizabeth D. Linda you are doing a great job and as others have said I also have been to other county pages and yours by far is the best. You have a back ground like wall paper and this is a change, I like it. Nice, to see there is a change and you can see that you take pride in what you do. Keep up the good work. There is so people couldn't live out there if they didn't have something to grip about.>grin< Dee

No one I know works harder and gives of herself more than Linda. To those who do not appreciate just how dedicated she is and how hard she works on her web pages, "GET A LIFE". In any organization, 10 % do all the work, 80 % are just along for the ride, and the other 10 % do all the crying, complaining and belly aching. The first 90 % is why people like Linda work so hard. The last 10 % is why there are so many in the middle group, the 80 %. The 80 % group is imtimidated into inaction by the cryers, complainers, and belly achers. For all you do, Thanks, T. Vernon Anderson
Linda, it seems to be often the case that those who contribute the least are the quickest to complain! All anyone has to do is look at some of the other county sites to realize what an incredibly good job you do! So don't let the few malcontents get to you. There are many others of us out here who really appreciate your efforts and maybe it is time that all of us, beginning with me, take the time to say a well-deserved thank you. I once got royally flamed by someone on another site because I had misspelled ONE word in a fairly lengthy posting that I had thought would be helpful to others. The only response to people like this is "Get over it!" Life is too short to worry about those who, as the old saying goes, "wouldn't be happy if you hung them with a new rope." Truly sorry to hear about Ruthann. We had corresponded in the past and exchanged information. She will be missed.
I am not sure what I missed. I have been unable to check my email much, but, today, saw all the messages about someone making unkind remarks about the Marshall Co, WV web page. I don't know what was said, but I do have to pop in with my two cents worth. That page is one of the best pages out there, and I have been helped many times over by the information posted. Linda does a great job and I could never find fault with anything she has done. Keep up the good work Linda. You are very appreciated by most of us!!!! Anne Brown FL
